Stroke Awareness Month

May 1 - May 31, 2024


Every May is stroke awareness month. 12 million people have a stroke each year, of which half of them will die. Behind heart disease, Stroke is the second leading cause of death in the world. Stroke Awareness Month is a time to support both individuals and families that have been impacted by a stroke - while taking individual steps to combat this preventable disease.

National Clean Air Month

May 1 - May 31, 2024


Beyond the impact of carbon emissions on climate change, air pollution is responsible for over 7 million premature deaths per year, and this number is growing. National Clean Air Month is a time when everyone is encouraged to take steps to improve the air quality of the planet.


For people, this can mean walking or cycling where possible, and for businesses, this could be supporting activities to offset pollution or carbon emissions.

Mental Health Awareness Week

May 13 - May 19, 2024 (UK Dates)


This is a week to take a step back and reflect on the mental health of our friends, family, coworkers, community, and most of all ourselves. While there are numerous activities that a business can undergo to help improve the mental health of its employees, those looking to support charities have a number of great organisations that they can fundraise for.

There are a number of great mental health charities that you can support during Mental Health Awareness Week, here are a few:

  • Action Mental Health - smashing the stigma around mental illness

  • Hospital Rooms - using art to transform mental health hospitals

  • MindOut - a LGBTQ+ mental health charity aiming to improve wellbeing in the community

  • Network for Africa - supporting the mental health of local communities in Africa


World Bee Day

May 20, 2024


World Bee Day raises awareness about the importance of bees and other pollinators for biodiversity, food production, and ecosystems. The date commemorates the birthday of Anton Janša - the pioneer of beekeeping (born in 1734).


Charities and Causes to support on National Bee Day:


  • Bumblebee Conservation Trust - protects and conserves bumblebees and their habitats through research, education, and practical conservation efforts.

  • Virtue Wildflower Planting - £0.03 plants one wildflower providing food and protection for bees

  • Friends of the Earth - campaigns for policies and practices that support pollinators, including bees, and promotes bee-friendly gardening and habitat creation.
