About the Cause
Women’s Aid is a grassroots federation working together to provide life-saving services in England and build a future where domestic abuse is not tolerated.
- An estimated 1.6 million women aged 16 to 74 years experienced domestic abuse in the last year
- On average the police in England and Wales receive over 100 calls relating to domestic abuse every
hour
- Only 18% of women who had experienced partner abuse in the last 12 months reported the abuse to
the police.
Their approach focuses on building community, providing training, and delivering training to help the those in need.
Women’s Aid have been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic violence and abuse through practice for over 45 years fighting domestic abuse on all fronts. They provide direct guidance and services to those in need, as well as hold four key national data sets which give valuable evidence on the experiences of survivors at every stage of their journey from recognition to freedom and the services which support them.
